What Resources a 5th Year Medical Student Uses

On Easter break, so just a short newsletter full of resources!

What I use to study during my clinical years: In order of most used to least used

1. Passmedicine - question bank with simple notes

2. BMJ best practice - investigations and treatment algorithms

   https://bestpractice.bmj.com/

   

3. Osmosis - Short videos on pathologies! Very good videos. (The free version gives you access to a lot of the pathology videos which are the most important in my opinion)

4. Online lectures & blog posts by doctors and medical students on different platforms

   1. StudyHub - https://study-hub.org/

      

   2. BiteMedicine - https://www.bitemedicine.com/

      

   3. Mindthebleep - https://mindthebleep.com/

      

My workflow:

1. I find a topic I want to study / Need to study

2. I find the osmosis video on it to understand the topic better

3. I check passmedicine / BiteMedicine / Mindthebleep for short/concise notes

4. If step 3 wasn’t clear on treatment and diagnosis - I check BMJ

5. If there are lectures happening live on StudyHub or Bitemedicine on the topic i tune in. OR If the above weren’t enough and I feel like i need to learn more or need something else to understand it better - then I search for previous lectures on studyhub and bitemedicine

   Obviously, this workflow changes often. Sometimes I do practice questions on passmedicine and bitemedicine and whatever topic comes up in the question, I study.

   When it comes to studying fluids, I use everything I can find.
